The Bleeding Child

If your child has sustained an injury and is bleeding more than can be controlled by using a small plaster then they are bleeding heavily and you need to take the following steps to stop your child going into shock.

  1. Grab a clean cloth or whatever material you have available and apply firm direct pressure to the wound.

  2. Call an ambulance by dialling 999 in the UK or 112 anywhere else in the world.

  3. Continue to apply pressure to the wound until help arrives.
