Cefalexin (also known as cephalexin) is a commonly used antibiotic that has a broad range of activity against common bacterial infections.
It is a first generation cephalosporin and is often used in urinary tract infections as well infections of the chest, ears and throat, sinuses, skin and soft tissue.
One of the principle side effects is allergy. It is important to note that up to 6.5% of patients who are penicillin allergic will also be allergic to cephalosporins like cefalexin.
